Alderwood Retreat is a family-owned & operated Eco lodge situated on the north shores of Kodiak Island. The forty acres of pristine wilderness is accessible only by boat or seaplane, and each private room/cabin overlooks the pacific ocean. This eco lodge specialize in small groups, offering guided hiking/kayaking, beach combing, marine tours, photography excursions, cooking classes, & more.

We love: Kayaking in the pristine waters, watch the whales go by... Take a big breath of pure Alaskan air, reconnect with yourself and the beautiful surrounding nature.
Eco friendly highlights:
Not only does the spring-fed stream that meanders through their camp give them sweet, pure drinking water, it also provides 100% of the eco lodge electricity by utilizing a micro-hydropower system. Non-toxic cleaning products are used exclusively, and they provide all-natural bath & body care products. The organic garden provides fresh salads for the dinner table when in season, and meals are frequently centered around freshly caught wild Alaskan salmon & halibut. Buildings are made in a traditional way with local construction materials. Waste water is treated with biologic enzymes in properly designed septic tanks. Recycling is mandatory, & composting is routine (although the local bear & fox don't usually leave much to be used in the garden!).
