The gardens are surrounded by our 150 acre organically certified (OFNZ/FNOG) farmland. They have an extensive native tree planting program, with over 6000 trees planted to date. Magic Cottage  Eco Lodge is a timber cabin perched on the banks of the Takou River, powered by a combination of Solar Panels (lighting) and Gas (heating, hot water, cooking & fridge). They collect and use rainwater; use energy efficient light bulbs, and non-toxic and biodegradable cleaning products.
